Miles Patrie is a Principal Associate for Social Policy and Economics Research. He has experience in policy development and technical assistance for poverty reduction, nutrition assistance, and agriculture programs. He has developed legislation and budget oversight for social safety net programs in the U.S. Senate, crafted regulations and policy guidance for federal agencies, and worked with local and state agencies to identify practical strategies to improve program implementation.
Patrie serves as Project Director and subject matter expert for numerous policy support projects and research studies. His work focuses on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) demonstration projects, certification policy, state agency operations, employment and training, and work requirements. He has worked with USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service and state human services agencies to conduct compliance reviews and develop SNAP application and notice documents, policy guidance, electronic assessment tools, and trainings.
